Trail Report 2020

A bit of a chilly wind today. The trails are in good winter shape. Getting matted down nicely. Looks like the weather is going to be nice for the next couple of weeks. Makes the winter that much shorter if we can avoid the -30C days!

At least we didn't get the snow that was called for yesterday but for all the wind we had, the trails are not really in that bad a shape. The city started plowing the trail and then...stopped?. Oh well, such is life. Dress warm and keeps the walks short for the next couple of days.

Lot's of snow on the way! Wednesday the wind and wind chill is to get up as well.

Many in southern Manitoba woke up to a thick layer of snow on Monday, the first official day of winter. And there's much more to come, according to Environment Canada.

Watch your step today. Avoid the trails if you can and stay to the Big Field. The ice from last night's rain is making everything dangerous to walk on. Even the parking lot is an adventure.

New fallen snow always makes for a nice walk. Lift up your feet though so you don't trip over the roots going down the trails. I'm just a say'n' (from experience) !!!!

The trails are in fine shape. It is to get warm this week so please keep of the ice in the quarry. I've seen people have been on it and some snow cleared away for skating. It is not strong enough to support any weight on it.

What a fantastic day! The trails are sloppy, that is to be expected. It's going to be warm the next couple of days so get out and enjoy it. Social distancing, not so much when it comes to treats for the dogs!

Boo.... Happy Halloween all! Be careful walking down the trails today. They are very icy with the warmer air and the strong winds today. There are a few trees down along the trails. I don't expect a lot of kids tonight but be aware that this is a very stressful time for the dogs.

Well, we got our first shot of snow this morning! It shouldn't stick around to long, I hope! It sure was a great summer weather wise at least except for the wind it seemed. Trails are in great shape.

That was a heck of a wind storm yesterday! We went from +30' to a snow warning in a week! Life on the prairies keeps you hopping and guessing. I only saw a few downed trees on the trails  but the tent that has been put up for the gas line on Farmers Road has seen better days.

I have been away for awhile so I have not been down the trails. I walked out to the small field and was eaten so we are out in the Big Field! There was a few muddy sections along the trail going out there. I saw yesterday that the City relocated the picnic table under the pine tress in the field. We are to be getting another one out there at some point. No word yet on the bathroom opening.

All the trees are in full bloom. Looks like there is going to be a crop of Saskatoon's this year. We need a good steady rain though. I'm afraid we are going to get everything in one shot, but maybe not with the Red River Ex not operating this year! The middle main trail is the only bad trail.

The rain is a welcome sign but I'm afraid that it didn't do much for the trails though. They are still pretty muddy. There is a tree down across the Rabbit and Hawthorn trail intersection near the opening to the big field.

Hi all, the road in is fine and the parking lots are not to bad. The trails are being matted down so walking is not to bad. The frozen puddles are dangerous. We don't want any cut paws! Hopefully this is the last of it but don't hold your breath.

Hi all. Just a quick reminder to keep clear of the quarry area. The ice is getting very thin this time of the year. Also watch your footing going down the trails. Very, very slippery! We don't need any torn ligaments.

So, your guess is as good as mine! The trails are in fine shape but will be getting very icy and hard to walk on as it gets warmer.
